If you’ve made it this far, welcome.
Whether you arrived looking for a practical classroom idea, a fresh perspective, a little encouragement, or simply a reminder of why you chose this work, I’m really glad you’re here.
Perfect Chaos didn’t begin because I had all the answers.
It began because I realized that the best educators are the ones who never stop asking questions, trying new things, and learning right alongside the people they serve.
I believe people matter.
Every student has a voice worth hearing.
Every educator has something worth sharing.
And yes, when I say educator, I mean all of us. Classroom teachers. Professors. School leaders. Teacher candidates. Custodians. Secretaries. Paraprofessionals. Teacher assistants. Librarians. Counselors. Bus drivers. Cafeteria workers. Instructional coaches. Technology specialists. College faculty. University supervisors. Every adult who chooses to invest in another person’s learning.
I don’t believe education belongs to one job title.
I believe every interaction teaches something.
Every role matters.
I also don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all classroom.
Every learner is different. Every classroom has its own personality. Every school, university, and community has unique strengths. The best strategies are the ones that serve the people in front of us, not the ones that simply follow the latest trend. That’s why you’ll find ideas here instead of formulas, conversations instead of prescriptions, and encouragement instead of impossible expectations.
I believe curiosity is worth protecting.
Education is always changing, and I never want fear to keep me from exploring what might help learners grow and thrive. My goal isn’t to chase every new trend. It’s to thoughtfully ask, “Will this help the learners in front of me?”
I believe grace changes everything.
Learning is messy. Teaching is messy. Leadership is messy. Life is messy. I’ve had plenty of first attempts that didn’t go the way I planned. Around here, failure isn’t something to fear. More often than not, it’s the first step toward growth.
I believe joy belongs in learning.
Laughter, wonder, creativity, and meaningful work aren’t distractions from learning. They’re often what make learning unforgettable.
I believe great ideas only matter if they become practical.
Theories are important, but whether I’m teaching future teachers, leading professional development, or speaking to educators across the country, I want people to leave with something they can actually use. Great ideas should never stay trapped in a book or a presentation. They should make Monday morning a little better.
Most of all, I believe education is built on relationships.
Before students remember what I taught, they’ll remember how I made them feel. Before colleagues remember one of my presentations, they’ll remember whether I listened. Before innovation changes classrooms, people have to trust the person introducing it.
That’s what Perfect Chaos is really about.
Not perfection.
Not having all the answers.
Just choosing, every day, to stay curious, keep growing, extend grace, and help others become the people they were created to be.
So come on in.
Stay awhile.
Take what you need.
Leave with something worth sharing.
And if you find yourself back here again someday, I hope it feels a little like coming home.
With gratitude,
Dr. B.
