The Heart of Perfect Chaos

It Started on the Back Deck

Perfect Chaos didn’t begin as a website.

It didn’t begin as a book.

It didn’t begin with a podcast.

It began during one of the most uncertain seasons any of us can remember.

During COVID, like so many educators, I found myself rethinking what teaching looked like, what students needed, and how we could continue serving others when everything around us felt uncertain.

One day, my husband David said something that changed everything.

“You have a perspective people need to hear.”

I wasn’t so sure.

But he kept encouraging me.

Eventually, what started as one conversation became another.

Then another.

Before long, we realized this was something we could build together.

Perfect Chaos wasn’t born out of a business plan.

It was born out of a shared belief that educators deserve encouragement, practical ideas, and a reminder that they don’t have to have everything figured out to make a difference.

Why Perfect Chaos?

People ask me all the time where the name came from.

The truth is…

Teaching has never been perfectly organized.

Life isn’t perfectly organized.

Learning certainly isn’t.

The most meaningful moments in education often happen somewhere between the lesson plan and the unexpected question.

Between the technology that doesn’t cooperate and the student who suddenly understands.

Between laughter and learning.

Between structure and spontaneity.

That’s where I believe the magic happens.

That’s Perfect Chaos.

Not disorder.

Not perfection.

But the beautiful, messy middle where growth happens.

More Than A Podcast

Perfect Chaos has become something much bigger than I ever imagined.

It’s become…

A conversation.

A podcast.

Books.

Conference presentations.

Professional learning.

A place to share ideas.

A place to celebrate educators.

A place to remind one another that we’re not doing this work alone.

Most of all…

I hope it feels like home.

The House

Why a House?

Because learning happens everywhere.

Some conversations belong in the Coffee Bar.

Some ideas belong in the Innovation Lab.

Some resources belong in the Library.

Sometimes we need to roll up our sleeves in the Barn.

Sometimes we need to slow down at the Lake.

Sometimes we just need to sit together in the Living Room.

Every room has a purpose.

Every visitor has different needs.

My hope is that whenever you visit Perfect Chaos, you’ll find exactly the room you need that day.

Meet the People Behind Perfect Chaos

Meet Ronda

The educator.

The dreamer.

The lifelong learner.

The Disney fan.

The coffee drinker.

The one who always has another idea.

Meet David

The educator.

The servant leader.

The lifelong learner.

The first responder.

The calm in the chaos.

The one who helps turn those ideas into reality.

Looking Ahead

Perfect Chaos is still growing.

So am I.

There are more books to write.

More conversations to have.

More educators to encourage.

More students to learn from.

Because that’s the funny thing about education.

The moment we think we’ve arrived…

There’s something new to discover.

And honestly…

I hope it always stays that way.
