How excited are you for AI month with Perfect Chaos? In all honesty, I couldn’t think of a better topic to relaunch with than AI. when I think of something that has created chaos in education lately, AI definitely comes to mind. The arguments about whether or not to use it in the classroom, the ethics of AI, how it is being used in the world outside of education, whether the self-checkout at Walmart is going to take over the world, whether it is causing students to cheat, how to cite when you use AI, and so many more are exhausting. Almost as exhausting as the debate over whether to give students a pencil when they need it or the reading wars.

Okay, I know that this podcast and blog won’t make the fighting stop on any of these topics, but we are going to try to shed some light on how we can utilize AI in our classrooms this month (and why we should be utilizing it) to enhance student learning. The goal is not to change anyone’s mind, but to gieve you some resources and ideas, sprinkled with our special brands of humor.
In all actuality, I have approached the use of AI cautiously, but with lots of hope. I have found a ton of ways that we can utilize AI in the classroom to help us enhance student learning. Some of the ways we are going to discuss are going to be having students utilize the AI tools and some are just for the teachers. As always, we tend to look at things like saving teacher time as giving us the opportunity to work within boundaries to give our students more time.
This month is also special because we are relaunching. I know, you have heard this before, but scheduling and putting things on calendars is always helpful when we do these things and I have the rest of the year planned out and scheduled in our calendars. There have been a lot of things we have learned since we started this process in 2020 as our Covid project. We have grown in what we do and offer, and it became overwhelming as we went along. Now, with a plan and some things prioritized in our lives(and out of our lives), it seems like this is something that can get back to being enjoyable for us.

So there it is. Episode 1 has been published. We are focusing on AI this month. We are finding balance, a struggle that most of us in education go through multiple times. Most importantly, we are finding purpose and evaluating the balance of our lives to make them enjoyable. There will still be the normal Perfect Chaos humor. We are still continuing to build out more professional development that is available. This time we do it with purpose. I leave you today with a quote that I read this morning that has really stuck with me.

Until next time, remain calm in your perfect chaos.
